Interactive CIDR Calculator

Enter any IPv4 address with a CIDR prefix (e.g., 192.168.1.0/24 or 10.0.0.0/16) to inspect netmask breakdown, usable IP range, host capacity, and wildcard mask:

CIDR Subnetting Theory

Classless Inter-Domain Routing (CIDR) replaces legacy Class A, B, and C network designation by appending a slash suffix (e.g. /24) indicating how many leading bits of an IP address belong to the network prefix.

💡Formula for Usable Hosts
For any CIDR prefix /N, the total number of IP addresses is 2(32 - N). The number of usable hosts is 2(32 - N) - 2 (subtracting 1 for Network Address and 1 for Broadcast Address).

Common Subnet Mask Table

/32255.255.255.25511 (Single Host)
Terminal Command
$ ip route add 10.0.0.0/16 dev eth0
Adds a static Linux kernel routing entry for the 10.0.0.0/16 subnet over interface eth0.
Expected Output:
[Kernel Routing Table Updated] 10.0.0.0/16 dev eth0 proto kernel scope link
